Be Careful What You Wish For Cricket World!
Its part of society for the strong to target the weak and in cricket at this World Cup. It has centred around the Associate Teams basically being held up to ridicule by the Cricket elite
Which is ok,but they tend to forget some of their heritages.........
Im sadly old enough to remember when both India and Pakistan were considered minnows by many.Or the same for New Zealand. Then in the 1960's when no one wanted to play Sri Lanka for they were deemed as unworthy.
Now ask yourself this................
If at the time of these Teams struggles and believe me they struggle mightily. If the powers that be listened to the many who bemoaned their lack of quality. Thus choosing to exclude them from play.Where would the Modern game be with the thrill and exceptional exploits of these Teams?
So as we have listened to the tidal wave of condemnation about the performance of Associate Teams here.Where is the sense in it,when in life inclusion of all is always a way to create a better future.
For one that might struggle now might indeed be one that has crowds lining up to see it tomorrow
This as I type in the wake of the dazzling Irish display against England.Highlighted by a truly exceptional 50 ball century by Kevin O'Brien. That ended in heartbreak on 113 courtesy of a suicidal run out.
In what must be said is one of the greatest innings in World Cup history....
That has brought Ireland,a supposed minnow on the cusp of a win against one of the flag bearers of the game in England. In what will be the highest run chase in the history of the World Cup and done so in a manner that has been truly breath taking..
So if the critics are listened too and Associate Teams are co signed to the pages of history we will be deprived of this....
The highest run chase in World Cup history
One of the most spectacular innings in the history of the Odi Game
And one of the most remarkable victories ever.......
Makes sense to exclude Teams in their infancy........ doesn't it????????????????????
